Here are the best free traffic strategies I’ve used to generate 10s of thousands of leads …. without spending a penny!
1. Hacking Quora Answers.
One of the best free traffic channels I’ve ever leveraged is Quora. Seriously, I never thought I’d be able to get millions of views and drive tens of thousands of visits with this platform, but you can.
In fact, I used it to become the #1 referral partner in the world for a financial newsletter, get over 3.4 million views to my answers and to add thousands of readers to my own newsletter.
For Quora, it’s just a matter of finding the right answer and writing a highly viral answer. I won’t sugar coat it though. You need to be a good writer for this to work. But if you’re willing to work at it, it can be crazy powerful.
2. Getting Media Attention.
In 2018, I wanted to build my name as a freelance writer but had no audience and no real name recognition.
To break into the industry, I knew in needed to do something worth talking about. So I asked one of my previous clients (Ryan Robinson) what he thought about me doing a public challenge on his blog.
In the challenge, I tried to make $5,000 as a (pretend) brand new freelancer. The benefit to him was he just had to let me do it and he’d gain eyeballs from thousands of aspiring writers on his list. So of course he said yes.
I documented the whole thing, gave away $1k of what I made, and built a massive list of 5k aspiring writers on my own list. I even got featured in Forbes. The key was doing something that was worth talking about. Which definitely isn’t easy, but if you can do it, it can lead to crazy amounts of free traffic.
3. Paying Partners (Way Too Much).
If you don’t want to pay for the traffic upfront, you can partner with people who have the audience you want and promise to pay them a hefty commission for sending traffic your way.
In 2019, I actually used this strategy to launch my 30 Days to $9k course. I partnered with a notable copywriting blogger and offered him 70% of every sale.
I wrote all the emails to promote it. I did the webinar. All he had to do was sit back and collect a check of several thousand dollars.
To pull this off, you need to make it as easy as possible on your partners. And ideally they should stand to make some decent money from your efforts.
But if you can close the deal, it can be super powerful for adding fast eyeballs to your offer if you don’t have the cash upfront to buy the traffic.
There’s probably more but these are a few I have personal experience with.
As you can see, *truly* free traffic doesn’t really exist. You’re going to have to be good and put in the work either way… which is why I actually prefer a blend of both paid traffic and free traffic strategies to grow.
